The Selangor MAC futsal team officially retained the Cuckoo Malaysia Premier Futsal League (MPFL) title yesterday after winning three points against Shah Alam City last week.

Selangor MAC proudly recorded 12 victories from 14 matches that took place at the Shah Alam Panasonic National Sports Complex since the beginning of January.

According to Selangor MAC head coach, Addy Shairullyzam Mohd Shafie, his team worked hard to achieve this victory.

“Even though we started with the first defeat against the Negeri Sembilan team, that's where the spirit of the players started to change. The efforts and determination of those who led Selangor MAC managed to retain the second MPFL championship this year,

"The result of their hard work is also the training that we have been working on and being able to improve on past mistakes to maintain the winning momentum until last week's match," he said.

Out of 14 matches, Ekmal Shahrin became the only player who managed to list himself to play in all matches. In addition, Saad Abd Sani, Danial Dain and goalkeeper Azrul Hadee played for 12 matches. Next, Syed Aizad, Azwann Ismail, Matheus Vasconcelos Silva and Adham Yusri played in 11 matches.

Selangor MAC has produced a total of 64 goals in the league. Ekmal Shahrin and the import player, Matheus Vasconcelos Silva have scored 14 goals each. Both of these players were named the Cuckoo MPFL 2022 top scorers yesterday.

On the other hand, Ekmal Shahrin and Khairul Effendy have been the most goal assistants in the team  with eight assists followed by Matheus Vasconcelos Silva with seven assists.

Winning the Cuckoo MPFL 2022, Selangor MAC together with the top seven teams in the league managed to qualify for the Malaysia Futsal Cup which will take place in June that will be held for the first time starting this season.

Apart from that, five Selangor MAC players, Azrul Hadee (goalkeeper), Syawal Sabaruddin, Khairul Effendy, Azwann Ismail, and the top local scorer, Ekmal Shahrin managed to list themselves to participate in the Harimau Malaya futsal squad central training camp starting Wednesday, 16 March 2022 at Futsal Arena, Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya to face the AFF Futsal Championship 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand from 2 to 10 April 2022.

The management congratulates the Selangor MAC team on their second consecutive victory in the Cuckoo Malaysia Premier Futsal League (MPFL). Hope to maintain this achievement for the next competition in June. Congratulations Red Giants!
